Step 1:
- In a small saucepan over low-medium heat, add the ½ cup of turmeric powder and 1 cup of filtered water. Stir continuously to form a smooth paste. Cook gently for about 7–10 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken. If it becomes too thick, you can add a little more water.
Step 2:
- Once the mixture has thickened to a paste-like consistency, remove the pan from heat. Stir in 1½ teaspoons of freshly ground black pepper and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix well. The pepper helps enhance turmeric absorption, and cinnamon adds antioxidant benefits.
Step 3:
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly (not completely cold). Add 1 tablespoon of cold-pressed flaxseed oil and mix thoroughly. This adds healthy omega-3 fatty acids and helps with turmeric absorption.
Step 4:
- Let the paste cool completely, then transfer it to an airtight glass jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Use as a daily supplement by adding a small amount to your dog’s food (dosage below).
