Ingredients

  • 4 cups spent grain leftover grain from brewing beer
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour or whole wheat flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup peanut butter ensure it’s xylitol-free and safe for dogs

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Cookie cutter (optional, for fun shapes)
  • Oven

Method

Step 1:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
Step 2:
  1. In a large bowl, combine the spent grain and flour. In a separate small bowl, beat the eggs and peanut butter together until smooth. Add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour until workable.
Step 3:
  1. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter or knife to cut into desired shapes or small squares.
Step 4:
  1. Place the cut dough pieces onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until firm and lightly browned. Allow biscuits to cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your dog.
