Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground pork fat trimmed
  • 4 oz pork liver
  • 1 cup sweet potato peeled & diced
  • ½ cup carrots chopped
  • ½ cup green beans chopped
  • ¼ cup apple cored and diced (no seeds or skin)
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp hemp hearts
  • ½ cup zucchini grated
  • ½ cup celery finely chopped
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

Equipment

  • Large non-stick skillet or pot
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Vegetable peeler
  • Grater (for ginger and zucchini)
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups & spoons
  • Storage containers for leftovers

Method

Step 1:
  1. Wash, peel, and chop all vegetables and fruits. Grate the zucchini and ginger. Trim pork of excess fat and portion the liver.
Step 2:
  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp coconut oil over medium heat. Add lean ground pork and pork liver. Cook until browned and no longer pink (about 8–10 minutes). Break up the meat with a spoon as it cooks.
Step 3:
  1. Add sweet potato, carrots, green beans, celery, zucchini, and apple. Stir and cook for another 10–12 minutes, until vegetables soften.
Step 4:
  1. Lower the heat. Stir in the grated ginger, turmeric, chia seeds, and hemp hearts. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes. Add a splash of water if needed to avoid sticking.
Step 5:
  1. Let the mixture cool completely before serving. Portion according to your dog’s size and daily caloric needs. Store leftovers in airtight containers in the fridge (3–4 days) or freeze in portions for up to 2 months.
