Step 1:
- Wash, peel, and chop all vegetables and fruits. Grate the zucchini and ginger. Trim pork of excess fat and portion the liver.
Step 2:
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp coconut oil over medium heat. Add lean ground pork and pork liver. Cook until browned and no longer pink (about 8–10 minutes). Break up the meat with a spoon as it cooks.
Step 3:
- Add sweet potato, carrots, green beans, celery, zucchini, and apple. Stir and cook for another 10–12 minutes, until vegetables soften.
Step 4:
- Lower the heat. Stir in the grated ginger, turmeric, chia seeds, and hemp hearts. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes. Add a splash of water if needed to avoid sticking.
Step 5:
- Let the mixture cool completely before serving. Portion according to your dog’s size and daily caloric needs. Store leftovers in airtight containers in the fridge (3–4 days) or freeze in portions for up to 2 months.
Notes
Always allow the pork recipe for dogs to cool completely before serving to your dog to prevent burns. Introduce new homemade meals gradually into your dog’s diet to avoid digestive upset.
Consult your veterinarian before making significant changes to your dog’s diet, especially if your pet has allergies or health conditions.
