Ingredients

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter no added sugar
  • ½ ripe banana mashed
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder optional, for fluffiness
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Cooking oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Frying pan or skillet
  • Spatula
  • Blender or food processor (optional for oats)

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe banana until smooth. Add the egg, peanut butter, olive oil, and water, then whisk everything together until the mixture is well combined and creamy. Next, stir in the rolled oats and baking powder (if using) until you have a thick, even batter.
  2. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil to prevent sticking. Using a spoon or small ladle, pour small rounds of batter onto the pan.
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side, watching for bubbles to form and the edges to set, then carefully flip each pancake.
  4. Cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the pancakes from the pan and allow them to cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

Always consult your veterinarian before introducing new foods into your dog’s diet, especially if your pet has allergies or health conditions. Monitor your dog the first time you offer any homemade treat to watch for any adverse reactions.
