Step 1:
- Wash the chicken thoroughly, and then cut it into small, bite-sized pieces. Peel the carrots and chop them into small pieces. If you’re using fresh peas, rinse them under cold water.
Step 2:
- In a medium-sized pot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil (or coconut oil) over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until it’s browned and fully cooked, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 3:
- Mix in the chopped carrots and peas. Let them cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, just until they begin to soften.
Step 4:
- Pour in 4 cups of low-sodium chicken broth or water. Stir in the pumpkin purée and a small amount of turmeric. Bring the mixture to a light boil.
Step 5:
- Lower the heat and let everything simmer without a lid for around 20 minutes, or until the carrots are tender and the ingredients are well combined.
Step 6:
- Take the pot off the heat and allow the stew to cool completely before serving. Portion out the food based on your dog’s size.
